Hailing from Jamaica, West Indies, Tio relocated to the United States, embarking on a transformative career trajectory. Motivated by a strong sense of duty, he enlisted in the Army as an EMT/Combat medic, completing a demanding 14-month tour in Iraq that ignited his fervor for medicine and spurred further educational pursuits.
Throughout his military tenure, Tio showcased exemplary commitment and proficiency across diverse medical settings. He successfully undertook the Army's License Practical Nursing program and served at the 121st Combat Support Hospital in Seoul, Korea, refining his skills in various medical domains, including OB/GYN, general surgery, primary care, and occupational health medicine. Post-military service, Tio continued his academic journey, earning an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Quinnipiac University and a Master's in Medical Science in Physician Assistant studies from Salus University.
